I have matured, sensitive skin with Melasma (condition causes dark, discolored patches on your skin). In general, the less I do to my skin, the better it looks and feels. I do change out products every season and this is my current summer skincare routine. It is really pretty simple, but effective. Good skincare routine does not have to be complicated to be effective, I believe the less steps it has, the more likely you are to stick to it and see results and it takes at least 6 weeks for that to happen. So many people say that they have tried all of these products that did nothing for them. But the truth is, in general, people don’t give the product a chance and enough time to actually work.
Also, it is good to do a skincare reset every once in a while. If your skin is acting a bit crazy and you can’t figure out what is going on with it, go back basics. Just cleanse & moisturize with basic products for 6 weeks and use sunscreen. That is, it. Then you can slowly add it products one at a time.
I have been using a combination Dermalogica, SkinCeuticals, Drunk Elephant, Pure Biology, Elta MD, and Farsali's products exclusively in the mornings, it has done wonders for my skin. My skincare routine changes slightly with every season and today I am sharing my current, summer skincare routine with you. Here are the products I use and the steps.
CLEANSE | I use Dermalogica special cleansing gel in the morning and at night or I just use a cotton pad and some micellar water. In the evening, I apply it to dry skin and let it sit 2-3 minutes on my skin while I brush my teeth. It doubles as a detoxifying mask that way. I wash it off with warm water and a soft washcloth.
TREAT | Once my skin is dry, I use my Face Massager Anti Wrinkles, on my checks, chin, forehead and under the eye area. I swear by this gadget and have been using it religiously. I swear, is has helped fix my Melasma. It is an initial investment, but in my opinion, it is worth every single penny. I couldn’t live without it anymore
I then apply my SkinCeuticals Toner using a cotton, swiping it over my entire face, neck, and chest. With all the heat and humidity, who wants to layer on all those creams during summer? Serums offer a lightweight power-packed alternative with antioxidants and layer under a lightweight moisturizer giving my skin a boost during summertime. It is like liquid gold for my skin.
TREAT| I apply 2 pumps of the Drunk Elephant C-Firma Vitamin C Serum. It helps with firmness and uneven skin tone &texture.
HYDRATE | Next I apply my CeraVe Facial Moisturizing Lotion AM that contains SPF30 already, so there is no need for an additional sunscreen. Since I have signs of Melasma on my forehead, I like to mix a few drops of this EltaMD UV Elements Broad-Spectrum Tinted Facial Sunscreen, SPF 44, to give me a little sun kissed glow.
I am a huge fan of this Pure Biology Total Eye Cream Serum in the morning. It contains caffeine for de-puffing and a bit of radiance to brighten the under-eye area. It is the perfect texture for under makeup and my skin drinks it up.
That is it. So simple, but it works. Let me know, if you have any questions. Have a great rest of your week!
